Fleas & Ticks

Fleas and ticks ride in on pets, wild animals, or yard debris, then quickly establish colonies in yards, carpets, furniture, and pet bedding. Protect your family and pets with our dual yard-and-home protection.

Signs to look for

  • Pets scratching, biting, or licking their skin more frequently than usual.
  • Tiny black pepper-like specks ("flea dirt") on pet bedding, rugs, or furniture.
  • Small reddish-brown jumping insects visible in carpets, rug fibers, or low upholstery.
  • Ticks found attached to pets or family members after spending time outdoors or near wooded areas.
01

Why do I have a flea or tick problem?

Fleas and ticks are typically introduced to your property by wildlife (like deer, raccoons, or squirrels) passing through your yard. Once in your lawn, they attach to pets or human clothing and migrate indoors, where warm, humid environments allow them to reproduce quickly.

02

Where will I find fleas and ticks?

Outdoors, they thrive in shaded, moist areas—such as high grass, leaf piles, dense shrubs, and under decks. Indoors, fleas concentrate where pets sleep, including dog beds, carpeted living rooms, rug edges, and furniture cushions.

03

Identification & Life Cycle

Knowing what you are dealing with shapes the treatment plan.

  • Fleas: Tiny (1/16"), flat, wingless, dark reddish-brown insects that jump exceptional distances.
  • Ticks: Small, oval arachnids that latch onto hosts to feed, expanding significantly in size when engorged.
  • Both pests go through rapid reproduction cycles that require treating both adult populations and hidden eggs/larvae simultaneously.

Yard-first approach

Since both pests are continually reintroduced from outdoors, focusing only on interior treatment is a temporary fix. We treat exterior perimeters, shaded foliage, and high-traffic yard areas first to eliminate the infestation at the source.

05

Are fleas and ticks dangerous?

Yes. Flea bites cause severe allergic dermatitis and blood loss in pets, while ticks are notorious vectors for serious blood-borne diseases, including Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

06

How we treat it

We apply a targeted outdoor barrier treatment paired with specialized interior residual applications where necessary. We also coordinate with your pet's routine veterinarian treatments to ensure a complete disruption of the flea and tick life cycle.

Prevention Tips for Homeowners

  • 1Mow your lawn regularly and keep grass, tall weeds, and brush neatly trimmed.
  • 2Clear away damp leaf litter, grass clippings, and woodpiles from the edge of your yard.
  • 3Wash pet bedding frequently in hot water and vacuum carpets and rug edges regularly.
  • 4Keep pets on year-round veterinarian-approved flea and tick preventatives.
