Cockroaches

German and American cockroaches are invasive, resilient pests that spread bacteria, contaminate food, and trigger allergies. Fast, professional intervention is necessary to eradicate the colony at its core.

Signs to look for

  • Distinct oily, musty, or unpleasant odors in kitchen cabinets, pantries, or bathrooms.
  • Small dark specks or droppings resembling black pepper or coffee grounds in drawers and along baseboards.
  • Brown, pill-shaped egg capsules (othecae) tucked behind appliances or inside cabinet hinges.
  • Shed skins or actual live insects spotted running when lights are turned on at night.
01

Why do I have a cockroach problem?

Cockroaches are master scavengers drawn to moisture, food residue, warmth, and dark spaces. They often enter homes through small foundation cracks, drain pipes, cardboard boxes, grocery bags, or shared plumbing lines in multi-unit buildings.

02

Where do they hide?

Each species has its favorite spots.

  • German Cockroaches prefer warm, high-moisture indoor spots: under sinks, behind refrigerators, inside microwaves, inside cabinet joints, and around dishwashers.
  • American Cockroaches prefer damp, dark areas such as basements, crawl spaces, utility rooms, floor drains, and boiler rooms.
03

Cockroach Identification

Identifying the species tells us where the colony is hiding.

  • German Cockroach: Light brown with two dark parallel stripes behind its head; small size (1/2" to 5/8"); rapid indoor breeder.
  • American Cockroach: Large (1.5" to 2"), reddish-brown with a yellow figure-eight pattern on the back of its neck; strong runner and occasional flyer.
  • Oriental Cockroach: Dark brown or glossy black, often called "waterbugs," prefers wet lower levels and drains.

Why store-bought roach sprays fail

Over-the-counter sprays only kill the few roaches you see out in the open. Sprays repel the rest of the colony, driving them deeper into wall voids and cabinets where they continue multiplying undetected.

05

Are cockroaches dangerous?

Yes. Cockroaches crawl through sewage and decaying organic matter, transporting dangerous pathogens like Salmonella and E. coli onto food preparation surfaces. Their shed skins and droppings are also known triggers for severe asthma and allergies, especially in children.

06

How we treat it

We utilize professional-grade baiting matrices, Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs), and precision crack-and-crevice spot treatments. This approach causes roaches to carry the active treatment back into the primary nesting harborages, eliminating the hidden breeding population.

Prevention Tips for Homeowners

  • 1Clean up food spills and crumbs immediately; avoid leaving dirty dishes in the sink overnight.
  • 2Store all open pantry goods in sealed, airtight plastic or glass containers.
  • 3Fix leaking pipes, dripping faucets, and sweating AC lines to eliminate standing moisture.
  • 4Wipe down kitchen countertops, stovetops, and cabinet interiors on a regular schedule.
